Born in Weston-Super-Mare, England, Bernard was brought up in South Africa where he became involved in music from an early age. Starting out as a drummer, he moved to the guitar and songwriting where he discovered he had a knack for writing original, catchy pop songs. The result of this creativity was the formation of the famous South African pop band ‘The Helicopters’ which had major chart success with hits such as ‘Mysteries & Jealousy’, ‘Only For You’, ‘Don’t Wanna Live in Hollywood’ and ‘Whisper Your Secret’.
While forming and developing a highly-successful marketing-communications agency, Bernard continued to collaborate musically which led to the release of his first solo album ‘Physiognomy of the Soul’. Well received in South Africa, ‘Physiognomy’ also received significant radio play in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Germany.
After a brief sojourn in SW France, Bernard moved to a village in an area he calls ‘Druidland’ nestled between the ancient stone formations of Stonehenge and Avebury in Wiltshire, England. He is currently recording his new solo album at Riverside Studios in Bath.
Apart from music, Bernard’s interests span contemporary art and digital photography to all things culinary.
